Green Ammonia- Fertilizer.
Fertilizer
Over 80% of the world’s demand for ammonia comes from agriculture, as ammonia is used as a fertilizer to add nitrogen, an element that is essential for plants, into soil that has been depleted by growing crops. Nitrogen (N) is essential to farming. Ammonia (NH3 – one molecule of nitrogen and three molecules of hydrogen) is an extremely efficient carrier of nitrogen.
Ammonia is essential for global food security. At the same time, currently most ammonia produced today using fossil fuels (natural gas/coal) which leads to extensive green house gas emissions which exacerbates climate change and threatens world’s food security. The world is stuck in this ammonia conundrum.
Ammonia as fertilizer is the first market that KP would cater
In recent years, farmers across the US have experienced uncertainty in ammonia production as well as spike in ammonia prices. The situation has been further complicated by Russia Ukraine War which supply a significant fraction of world’s fertilizer needs.
KP’s technology would enable production of ammonia without green house gas emissions. The ammonia supply would be reliable and would involve production of ammonia on-site for local needs. This would alleviate much of farmer’s stress regarding uncertainty in ammonia supply
